I don’t know how things go in the rest of the country, but here in “Atlanta” we have sunshine delays during rush hour. If you’re smart enough to put two words together, you probably know what it means. Basically, as the ant-like crawl of the thousands of gas hog cars flows down the freeway, there comes a point in most commutes where you turn a corner and are faced with . . . the sun.
Now, what is eternally annoying about sunshine delays is that these commuters, they go the same route to work every day. There are no surprises here. It’s not like the sun can creep up on you. It’s always around that one turn on 285 East, and even with daylight savings time, it’s still there. These people, they cruise along the freeway just like they did yesterday and the day before, and they forget their sunglasses, can’t remember to put their visors down, can’t anticipate the sun, and they slow down. This, as you know, causes traffic jams. The whole length of road on 285 East that I drive every day is a traffic crawl; it’s not even one of those crawls on hands and knees, it’s a crawl on your belly.
I’m aware how traffic works. I know that, for instance, a single driver who’s on his or her cell phone and not paying attention can cause an hour’s worth of slowdown problems; without even causing a wreck. My point here is if that people would pay attention to what they’re doing there would be a lot less frustration on the road. The sun won’t start coming up behind you in the morning; it’ll always be right there around that corner. So pay fucking attention.
As UGA football gears up for the 2008 season, more and more is heard about how the team will be ranked in the top 3 for preseason. I’ve heard talk about how loaded the Dawgs are, and Moreno is a Heisman trophy contender this year. Have a look at what Sports Illustrated had to say about him
